JP Surfboards, a Brief History
Since 2006 we have been in our new factory and showroom on the Crofty Industrial Estate 10 minutes drive from Llangennith.
Since 2003 we have been using the DSD shaping machine, and upon opening our new factory we purchased our own DSD shaping machine.
The machine has helped us develop and refine our boards, using the machine allows us to spend more time on the finer details
and helps keep the consistancy and progression of our shapes. The software is highly technical and it's full potential can only
be gained from years of hand shaping experience. Check out our profiles & a few pics below!
Cheers,
John
John PurtonI made my first board when I was 13 not really knowing what templates were as there were no other shapers in the area. Everything was done by eye, I didn't even know how to glass the boards. I just draped the glass on and it took me two days to sand it down but it worked. Then I moved on, and later started learning my trade in the surfboard industry. Since 1998 I've started by myself back in Wales and now have a strong team of five people and and a lot of great surfers riding my boards.

Tom PurtonHas been laminating boards for me for around 8 years now, had a year's sabbatical in Oz where he did this for JS industries and also for Diverse surfboards, both companies are based on the Gold Coast. As well as laminating, Tom also sprays and shapes alot of the stock boards.
